Recording your Child's Achievements at Nursery
In order for the staff to record your child’s learning in nursery we now use a system called Tapestry.
Tapestry is a website which can be accessed on a computer or laptop via a web browser, and also on any Apple or Android device such as a tablet or smartphone. We have chosen Tapestry because they are a secure and also exciting way of keeping track of your child’s development and their time with us.
Instead of using the paper-based folders style of recording, we will be able to instantly upload photos, videos and observations of your children. You are then emailed to alert you that something new has been added to your child’s Learning Journal and you can log on and view what your child has been up to. A massive advantage of this system is that you can instantly add your own comments to entries, and can show your child’s online book to members of the family and friends.
The safeguarding of our children is very important to us. Everything that is added to Tapestry will be added to The Centre’s account and can only be viewed by staff and administrators who use the system, and also yourself, using your own log on. You will only have access to your child’s own Learning Journal and this cannot be seen by other parents or carers.
All photographs and/or videos taken and uploaded to Tapestry by The Centre are the property of The Meadows Day Care Centre and parents or carers do not have permission to upload them onto any website of social media platform. Any incidents where this confidentiality is broken will be dealt with very seriously and will result in your access to the system being withdrawn.
The Meadows has been using Tapestry for a number of years now and we understand as Parents/Carers you may have your own questions regarding the system, its security and online safety, etc. as such please suggest you visit https://tapestry.info/ .
Before we open a Tapestry account for parents or carers we need…
• Permission from parents or carers to set-up a Tapestry account in their name;
• Agreement from Parents/Carers to protect all log-in details and images of all children that may appear in any photos contained in their Learning Journal for safeguarding reasons.
• Agreement from Parents/Carers acknowledging that all images, videos and posts to Tapestry are confidential, owned by The Meadows Day Care Centre and must not be posted or shared under any circumstances.
Additionally...
• Permission from Parents/Carers for their child’s image to appear in other children’s Learning Journals.

Please Note:
If parents withhold permission for their child to appear in other children’s Learning Journals, then their child will only ever be photographed alone and no shared observations will be made which include their child.
If a parent or carer does not agree to protect images of all children that may appear in any photos contained in their child’s Learning Journal, we will discuss the matter with the relevant parent and until agreement is given, we will not open a Tapestry account in their name.
